Conceive Believe & Achieve Part 1

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things AND powerful things at that; for when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, and burning desire, they can be translated into all types of riches…” — Napoleon Hill

People have walked over hot coals, glass and nails. They have cut holes in the ice and climbed in the water beneath. They have broken bricks or thick pieces of wood with their bare hands or forehead. They have swum the English Channel and done many other spectacular feats requiring great intestinal fortitude and skill; but more importantly these extreme feats required a great mind. If it is possible to perform or accomplish these extraordinary feats, just imagine what one could do if they learned how to tap into the power of the subconscious mind.

One such feat was accomplished by Napoleon Hill whose son, Blair, was born without external physical ears and without the intricate inner pieces, which make up the inner ear. The doctors told Napoleon his son would never hear and therefore, would always be a deaf mute. Napoleon however, told everyone his son would eventually be able to hear. He prayed daily for his son and for direction on what to do to bring this about. Napoleon believed with definiteness of purpose his son would hear. He didn’t know when or how, but he knew with all of his heart it would happen. As a result of his faith, his son not only gained the ability to hear, he eventually graduated from college. In his last year of college Blair picked up and read chapter two of his father’s manuscript for the book, Think and Grow Rich. Reading the chapter motivated Blair to eventually become an inspiration for thousands who could not hear or speak.

Napoleon believed whatever the mind could conceive and believe it could achieve. He believed above all, thoughts were things. The Bible says the same in Mark 11:24-25; “Whoever says unto this mountain be removed and cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart, but believes what he says will come to pass then he shall have whatever he says…whatever things you desire when you pray believe that you shall receive them and you shall have them.” James Allen said the same when he penned the book, As a Man Thinks. For, James says, as a man thinks so is he or, as a man thinks is how and what the man believes himself to be in his heart.

What a man thinks and believes in his heart is what is going to happen to and around him. A man is in essence his thoughts and since thoughts are things your thoughts will become reality, bad or good. Such was me nearly a half lifetime ago. It was in my mid-thirties when I became aware of a thought in the back of my mind and heart that I could and or would fail. For some reason I didn’t properly deal with this thought when it was discovered. It became a fear that I suppressed all the while with it growing in reality. I didn’t take the time on a daily basis to purge my mind and heart of this nonsense by replacing it with positive thoughts of accomplishment and success. The result wound up being these fearful thoughts eventually became reality.

Seeing as how fear is the opposite of faith I found myself attracting the negative in the same manner my faith could have attracted the positive. Although I could not see it then it is quite clear now that I believed failure was inevitable and, fail I did, for it all came crashing down in the ensuing years. By allowing the thought of failure to remain and grow, my subconscious mind began working on how to make that failure come to pass. Soon I began having problems with my lower back, which led to massive amounts of pain pills and twelve epidural blocks. This went on for almost six years; much of which I don’t remember.

It is amazing how your subconscious mind can set things up, utilizing whatever may be necessary to fulfill that which is predominant in your thoughts. To accomplish the task of causing failure in my life, my body began setting about to put in place that which would be necessary to facilitate this failure. In order to do this, I needed to first of all be in severe pain then medicated to the point that all else took a back seat. Things in the back seat are often overlooked and forgotten and that is where the troubles started. That which was in the back seat was that which was most important, but due to the pain and medication, there was only one thing of importance, and it was not business or money. In Part 2 we will discuss the solution.

Best of LUCK as you
