Are YOU a Passenger or a Driver?

“There are two types of people that emerge in an adverse economy: the driver and the passenger…” — Rick Cox

There are two types of people that emerge in an economy such as the one we have today. First, there are those who ride in the back seat of the car allowing the economy to drive them around wherever it may be heading. In the mean time all they can do is watch as the economy approaches every curve, roadblock, or dead end. Secondly, there are those who take the wheel thereby, taking control of where they are going as THEY drive full speed ahead leaving the economy in the dust. Their motto is, just get in and buckle up.

You see, life is what you make of it. I learned from one of my mentors, Jim Rohn that you can either make a living or design a life. Making a living is what you are doing when you react to what is happening rather than responding to what is happening. When you respond you are able to use the power of what is happening to propel you to the next level of success, (the next level of challenges). When you react you are allowing others to drive you to where they want you to go.

If your life is not what you think it should be or, what you wish it to be then it is time to take a serious look at why it isn’t. It is time to look at the reflection you get in the mirror of life and say to the one staring back, YOU alone have the power brighten your tomorrows!” Once you became an adult there simply is no one else to blame other than yourself. It is no longer the fault of Mom or Dad; an ex-spouse, a hateful friend or, the surrounding circumstances. It is time YOU do something about it. The truth is God has given and provided all that is necessary for us to make our lives thrilling and fulfilling. You can do this through the process of mining out all that lies within. It is up to you to bring forth your gifts and talents.

It might be most advantageous to take note of the fact that good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Even the Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. It is our response to what happens that makes the difference. Learn to view the bad things that happen as stepping stones rather than obstacles. What can be a big help in doing this is to learn to look at life and what is happening around you through the eyes of optimism. When you do you will find you have the right perspective and having the right perspective is a very big help in ensuring that all things eventually will work out to your benefit.

You must along with the right perspective, keep the right attitude. Taking a different view of things allows the energy from the bad that is happening to be used to propel you upward to success and a life of fulfillment. This will lift you out of the mental state that once allowed these circumstances to beat you up and leave you defeated.

Regardless of your age or circumstances, it is time to make things happen in your life instead of waiting around for something good to happen, TO YOU. It is time to take life into your own hands. It is time to quit waiting for a miracle. It is time to make your own miracle and you can do so by taking hold of the plow and planting your own seeds today for a better tomorrow. Stated another way it is time for YOU to get busy and get involved about doing something that will change the outcome of your tomorrows.

It is time to get something started. Don’t wait for others to come along to take you by the hand and lead you for this will only provide a life of mediocrity and will not provide that which you dream and desire. I am not saying it can’t happen, but I am saying the chances of that happening, is very slim. There are several reasons for this. The first reason is those that take you by the hand are not ultimately responsible for your success that is on you. If they are doing all the work you will receive no inner strength nor build any character, and thus will not be able to sustain any real success. Secondly, most people are busy making things happen in their own life and helping you then is secondary to their real goal.

The bottom line is, if you are waiting for someone to come along, allow you to get in their car while they drive you there, your wait will never end. If you are hoping some stroke of luck will come along and crown you with enough money so you can enjoy all you will ever want, you will be waiting a long, long time.

Best of LUCK as you
