From Thoughts to Action

Commitment involves feelings as well as thinking. It is the result of a well-documented formula: THOUGHTS + FEELINGS = ACTION.

It is amazing the amount of people that do not believe their actions are the result of their thinking. However, as stated above, it is well documented thoughts plus feelings, equals action. I would like to add a key point and that is, it is thoughts backed by emotional feeling that actually becomes an action. Said another way, when a thought has enough emotion behind it, an action will follow.

We think about hundreds to thousands of things per day, but it is only when emotional feeling is put behind a thought that the thought has the possibility to become an outside reality. That is why we must guard our thoughts at all times. We must be a gate keeper of our thoughts in order to ensure we are not inviting into our lives anything we have not consciously chosen.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” What you are thinking in your heart is who and what you are. The heart, as spoken of in the Bible, is the center core of an individual. It is the place from where that individual is governed. That is why we are not to hang out with those given to a quick temper, or associate with those who choose to live below their best.

Jesus said (Matthew 15) it isn’t what goes into the mouth that defiles, it is what comes out of it. Why is that stated? Because, out of the abundance that is in the heart, the mouth speaks AND what is said out of your mouth in emotional feeling will eventually become reality. This is why we are told to think before we speak and to listen twice as much as we speak. By doing this we can often sidestep many pitfalls and heartaches for the person that speaks too much is bound to wind up eating his/her words.

Learn to guard your heart with all diligence. Guard it like a gatekeeper watches for trespassers. Do not let trespassing thoughts take root and become fueled by emotional energy which can wind up causing actions that may not only embarrass you, but could perhaps sidetrack your life in ways that are difficult to overcome.

Remember, no one else is in control of your life…YOU ARE. You are responsible for what you think, feel, AND do…

Best of LUCK as you
