Life’s Just Reward

“Life responds to deserve and not to need. It doesn’t say, “If you need you will reap.” It says, “If you plant you will reap.” The soil says, “Don’t bring me your need – bring me your seed…” — Jim Rohn

“You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want…” — Zig Ziglar

Learning to fully comprehend the statements above will go a long way toward helping you enjoy more than merely getting social security checks upon retirement. The reason for this is because life doesn’t respond to wishes or needs. Life responds in accordance with the laws governing the planet on which we live. Life responds only to that which is deserved. The law is not, “If you wish you will reap,” or, “If you need you will reap.” The law is, “If you sow you will reap.” Unfortunately, most get this turned around. Most believe IF you wish or need more than others than you should get it. That is not how the law works. Just because you wish to be weightless will not set aside the law of gravity therefore, just because you have needs or wishes this does not set aside the law of sowing and reaping.

One of the obstacles, which must be understood and overcome prior to getting on the road to success, is to understand the wide variety of human emotions. Although life would be quite bland without them, emotions left unschooled, can turn life upside down. It is often unschooled emotions, which are involved in wishful thinking or being needy and as we saw above, the laws that govern on this planet only respond to deserve, not to needs or wishes. One may wish all they want even to the point of having a bushel full of needs, but nothing will happen other than being needier tomorrow than you are today. Laws are that which work the same way with the same result every time. An example of a law is two plus two always equals the number four. That is the law of mathematics. In the laws of physics to every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. These are laws because they work the same way every time.

On the other hand, there is no law assuring one’s wishes or needs will be fulfilled in the same manner. Just because one fasts foods for seven days, cries with every fiber of their being or stands on a corner with a sign that says, I WISH TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE PIANO, their ability to play the piano will be no better than it was yesterday or than it will be ten years from now UNLESS they move beyond wishing by starting to develop the skill of playing the instrument. Wishing will not develop the skill. By the same token, just because one feels they need to have new clothes or a new car, this need will not be filled simply because they wish for it. There is nothing wrong with wishes or needs, but are you willing to become what it takes to attract, obtain, or possess them?

What is necessary if one desires to be rewarded, is to “UP” their level of service as well as their abilities in whatever it is they do for a living. Most of us do not realize what it is we do for a living. Often, it isn’t until we begin to peel back the layers of what we do that we come to understand the NEED we are filling or the true service we are providing. Stated another way, YOU CAN FILL SOMEONE ELSES NEEDS THROUGH SERVICE AND BE REWARDED, but your needs will not be filled just because you are needy. You will only be able to fill your own needs with the rewards you receive from filling or fulfilling the needs of others. It is the level to which you serve others that will determine whether the need for your service grows or stagnates. The greater the demand for your service the higher your pay scale. That is how the law works.

You have taken the first step in moving your life forward when you apply the above knowledge to what you do for a living. Once you begin to recognize you are filling the needs of others through the service you provide, your ability to earn will explode, growing exponentially. It doesn’t matter where you start. The better you are at servicing people today, the farther up the ladder of succession you will be tomorrow.

Many simply show up to work, clocking in and out, doing little more than what is required to keep them out of hot water yet, still hold their position with the company. Then there are others who, although putting in a little more effort, are not fully aware of how they could be rewarded, yet they could be if they peeled back what their job description required then began providing the best service possible at what it is they do. This is where the majority miss the boat for they have not studied how to become better at whatever service they currently provide. If they did, this would open greater opportunities thus allowing them to enjoy a better quality of life.

There is a Bible verse that says, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, whatever a man sows that shall he also reap.” The common thought process when one hears or reads this verse is, “I must be careful not to do bad things or I will get bad results.” That is looking at the glass being half empty whereas, the glass half full mentality looks at it and says, “If I don’t plant I will not have anything to harvest in the same manner as those who are enjoying the harvest of their labors.” Therefore, when you come to understand life responds to deserve, it is then easier to see why wishing or being needy will not bring a positive result. On the other hand, wishing and being needy WILL bring about a negative result. By sitting around wishing and whining, instead of putting your hand to the plow, you are going to become very hungry. If you never plant there will never be a harvest. I say this because a simple wish will not make THE SEEDS YOU NEVER PLANTED, grow.

I encourage you to learn how best to serve those around you. Make it a priority to become better at your job tomorrow than you are today. Make it a priority to become better than your competitors. By doing so you will gain in value to the company for which you work, the customer who purchases what you make and more importantly, to yourself. Remember, it is a truth that everyone works for themselves therefore, being your best puts you in a better position in the market place as well as in a better position for increased earning.

Best of LUCK as you
