The Results of Self Discipline Part 2

“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons…” — Jim Rohn

If you want to change the world, find someone to help you paddle.

Another thing McRaven learned in his seal training was you cannot change the world all by yourself. The training he went through quickly showed him you will need the help of others along the way.

Family, friends, colleagues, and even the kindness of strangers can be of help to get you to your desires and dreams. Along with this you will need someone that is adept at steering in the necessary direction to keep you on track and assure arrival at the correct destination. This is where your philosophy comes into play. Your philosophy will keep you focused and on track.

Your wife, a best friend, a business colleague, or anyone with which you can form a tight bond can wind up helping you to form a master-mind. This mastermind will help keep you focused and on track. It will also help to make you confident and stronger so you can weather the tough times that lay ahead on your journey to obtaining and fulfilling your desires and dreams. Almost all of the major business men and women, whether entrepreneurs or corporate CEO’s, have had someone that was with them along the way. The following are just two cases:

1. Thomas Alva Edison had two: Charles Batchelor and John Kruesi. Charles was a master mechanic and draftsmen that greatly complemented Edison.
John Kreusi was a machinist. He was responsible for translating Edison’s numerous rough sketches into working devices. Kruesi’s skill in doing this was key to Edison’s success.

2. In Walt Disney’s case it was his brother Roy. Roy was the business and finance side of the Disney endeavors. He was the one that kept things on track. Walt was creative dreamer, but Roy kept things in perspective. It takes both sides of the brain to make a whole and often this requires two people to make things happen successfully. Most of the success stories have one or more people behind the successful person everyone eventually came to know.

In the Bible it says:

“ONE can put a thousand to flight while TWO can put ten thousand to flight.” The obvious: two is by far stronger than one. “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if one should fall, the other will lift up the fallen; but woe to him that is alone when he falls for he has not another to help him up.

“If two lie together then they have heat; but how can one be warm alone. And if someone should prevail against one of you, two of you shall be able to withstand for a three-fold cord is not easily broken.” Here we have the spirit of the two being one in the master-mind as they have one goal and one focus and yet there are two that now have more than double their own strength and hence a 3-fold cord.

When you find a good partner, stay true to them and work together to ensure the success you both seek and you will be successful.
