Thoughts are Things

“You are the most powerful magnet in the universe! You contain a magnetic power within you that is more powerful than anything in this world, and this unfathomable magnetic power is emitted through your thoughts…” — Rhonda Byrne

In my over sixty years of living I can say with certainty there are few who place any real value on the term “THOUGHTS ARE THINGS.” What is most unfortunate for those who think this way is, whether they place any value on it or not the fact remains, “THOUGHTS ARE THINGS!” Our predominant thoughts will come true, which is why when we hate someone so much we become like them; they are our predominant thought hence, thoughts are things. What we did not want to come to pass will now come to pass due to our predominant thoughts. Our thoughts have now become reality in that they have gone from thoughts to things. When this happens, we especially do not want to accept the fact that thoughts are things. To do so is to allow the blame to fall on our self.

Most of us are not good at accepting blame for what is wrong in our lives. As a matter of fact, most find it easier to blame others. With this thought process however, it is difficult to become a person with the ability to attract what you want because you are focused on blaming others for what is wrong in your life. Truth is if you want to effect a positive change in your life then it is best to place the responsibility where it belongs: on yourself.

By placing the responsibility where it belongs we remove the mindset of blaming others, which is important to know because this mindset will only have us attracting the opposite of what we want. Whereas, when we accept the blame, we take on the mindset necessary for becoming what it takes to attract what we want. It isn’t possible to attract success until we become what it takes to do so for this will not happen unless we are correctly focused on the real problem: our thoughts. The bottom line: we are to blame for where we are and our thoughts are to blame for why.

Accepting the idea, “thoughts could be the problem,” has the potential to revolutionize our life. Learning to control our thoughts will transform our life while developing the discipline to focus our thoughts will improve our life. If thoughts are things then it would be most opportune to focus on that which will better our future rather than allowing ourselves to wonder around in aimless, unproductive thinking.

For example, the person who does not think of anything other than how they have been wronged will never be able to rise to their potential, for they are stuck in the quagmire of negative thought. In like manner those who are unable to let go of their sorrows are doomed to live them over and over suffering the lows of depression yet, never able to move into a state of happiness. The fact is it is hard to be productive in this state of mind and with this condition of the heart. Furthermore, those whose thoughts are predominantly based “on the way things used to be” are caught up in yesterday thinking. These people are doomed to miss out on the opportunities of tomorrow. To the contrary, those who learn the discipline to focus “on the positive” become the envy of those who do not.

For quite some time, I have signed my emails and letters with the caption, “Success is to be attracted by the person you become,” which is something I learned from Jim Rohn. But it was not always so, for as a young man my thoughts were focused only on the bad as I was unable to see the good happening to and around me. The reason for this is I was full of anger and bitterness. This anger and bitterness kept me thinking of and focused on those I believed to have done me wrong. Why was my focus on the negative? The answer is simple. I had not properly responded to that which had happened to me, choosing instead to react adversely. The result of this adverse reaction filled my heart with anger and bitterness.

During that period of my life I did not see, nor did I believe, that all things happen for a reason. I have since found it is my response to that which happens to me that will make the difference in how my tomorrows turn out. I now see that all things can work out for my good, if and only if, I learn to respond correctly to that which happens to me. I now know that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% your response. By learning to respond properly and accepting that which is happening as part of my training process, I come out on the other side of these situations a better person. When I made this form of thinking a lifestyle it made a vast difference in whether my tomorrows were a nightmare or an adventure.

Previous to making this change in thought pattern, I was focused on the wrong things. I was focused on those that wronged me as well as all that was going on wrong around me. I lived life in the hell of negativism for many years and all the while struggled to become a success, but this success eluded me at every corner. It eluded me on the straightaways. It eluded me regardless of what I did simply because my dominant thoughts were doing the controlling. My dominant thoughts were keeping me in the bondage of negativism and failure.

Ah, but then I saw the light. I was awakened to the fact that I was the center of the problem; my thoughts were the reason for the results of anger, hatred, bitterness, envy, strife and a lack of forgiveness. The good thing is now that you have read this; you too have been awakened to the same light. Now that you have been awakened it is time to make the choice to let go and move forward. It is time to forgive; it is time to move on. It is time to let go of the negative and focus on the positive.

Currently, as a result of accepting the blame as well as the bad that happen to me, and as a result of letting go of those negative thoughts, I now have the ability to focus on the positive. By staying focused on the positive I am now able to think on that which will revolutionize, transform and improve my life. I am now able to move forward with the ability to focus on becoming that which will attract what I want. I have found attracting to be much easier than struggling. I challenge you to do the same. You will be glad you did.

Best of LUCK as you
